Dental Implants in 2026: What the Same Tooth Costs in Türkiye and the USA

  • One finished implant tooth — fixture, abutment and crown together — runs €804 to €982 in Türkiye with a premium Swiss fixture. The same complete tooth in the USA runs €2,576 to €4,293 on published clinic pricing and €3,005 to €5,152 on a January 2026 dental plan schedule. Three to five times, comparing the same thing.
  • In America the crown alone runs $800 to $3,000 — €687 to €2,576. At the middle of that range it costs more than an entire finished implant tooth in Türkiye does with a premium brand fitted.
  • Most published comparisons of these two markets are wrong in one direction or the other, because they compare different purchases. A Turkish all-inclusive package set against an American screw-only advertisement is not a comparison. Both markets advertise the screw and bill the rest separately: America's "$1,500 implant" and Türkiye's "€179 implant" are the same move in two currencies.
  • The gap is not a quality gap. Straumann and Nobel Biocare fixtures are the same components in both countries, from the same manufacturers, and a laboratory in Istanbul mills from the same blocks as one in Ohio. What differs is rent, wages and laboratory cost.
  • Türkiye publishes a national dental fee tariff; America has published nothing comparable since the ADA discontinued its Survey of Dental Fees in 2023. Both the Turkish tariff and Germany's fee schedule price the placement and exclude the implant itself, which is why "what does an implant cost" has no single answer in any market.

· Ratings from Google; ranking formula published on /how-we-rank

A finished implant tooth costs three to five times more in America than in Türkiye. That gap is real, it is large, and almost every published version of it is wrong — because the two sides are rarely describing the same purchase.

What one tooth is, before anyone prices it

An implant is not one object. It is four things, bought separately, and any quote may include some and not others.

The fixture. The titanium screw placed in the jaw. This is the part with a brand name on it.

The abutment. The connector between fixture and crown.

The crown. The visible tooth.

The surgery. Planning, imaging, placement, follow-up.

A clinic quoting the first of those and a clinic quoting all four are both answering "how much is an implant". They are not answering the same question, and every inflated or deflated comparison you have read turns on exactly this.

The comparison, at matched scope

Everything below is one finished tooth: fixture, abutment and crown, all in.

The American schedule lists ADA codes D6010 to D6093 — the whole implant service section, placement through crown — at an average of $3,500 to $6,000. The clinic figures itemise to the same total from the other direction. Two independent American sources, one a fee schedule and one a dated practice price page, landing in the same band.

Against that, a premium Swiss fixture fitted in Türkiye, complete: €804 to €982.

The line that makes the gap concrete

Break the American tooth into its parts and set each against the Turkish equivalent.

One partTürkiyeUSA
Fixture, premium brand€393 – €536€859 – €2,576
Abutmentusually sold with the fixture€343 – €859
Crown€244 at the official tariff€687 – €2,576

In America the crown alone runs €687 to €2,576. In the middle of that range, the crown by itself costs more than the entire finished tooth does in Türkiye with a premium brand fitted — screw, connector, crown, surgery and all.

That is the advantage, stated as precisely as the sources allow.

Why almost every comparison you find is wrong

Because both markets advertise the same part and bill the rest separately.

American clinics advertise implants from $1,500 to $2,000. That figure is the titanium screw and the surgical placement. The abutment and the crown are extra, and the finished tooth is two to three times the advertised number.

Turkish clinics do the identical thing: an advertised €179 implant is the screw alone, about 18% of what the finished tooth costs.

So there are two honest comparisons and one dishonest one. Screw against screw is honest. Finished tooth against finished tooth is honest. A Turkish all-inclusive package against an American screw advertisement — or the reverse — is the version that produces both the "ten times cheaper" claims and the "the gap is exaggerated" rebuttals. Neither is measuring anything.

The gap is not a quality gap

The fixtures are the same objects. Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Osstem and the rest sell into both markets from the same factories, under the same regulatory approvals. A Straumann placed in Istanbul is not a different screw from a Straumann placed in Chicago, and a dental laboratory in Istanbul mills zirconia from the same blocks as one in Ohio.

What differs is everything around the component: rent, wages, laboratory cost, insurance overhead, and the cost of living the practice sits inside. That is why the gap is large and stable rather than a discount someone is offering you this month.

What price does not tell you is whether a particular clinic is good. A low price in a low-cost market says nothing about the dentist, and that is a separate question — the one the questions at the end of this page are built for.

What each country publishes, and what that changes

Türkiye publishes a national dental fee tariff. The 2026 edition was adopted on 10 December 2025 and states on its cover that it applies in every province and district. Its implant line reads:

5-34 Endosseous implant (single cylindrical implant charge excluded) — €401

Kemik İçi İmplant (Tek Silindirik İmplant Ücreti Hariç) — 22.440 ₺

Source: Türk Dişhekimleri Birliği, 2026 Yılı Rehber Tarife Kitapçığı

The fee for placing an implant excludes the implant. Read across the document that is clearly deliberate: the graft fee excludes the graft material, the sinus lift excludes the biomaterial, the implant crown excludes the abutment.

Germany does the same. Its fee schedule position 9010 covers preparing the bone cavity and placing the implant, and the federal dental chamber's commentary states it plainly:

Implants, implant components and single-use implant drills are separately billable.

Implantate, Implantatteile und einmalverwendbare Implantatfräsen sind zusätzlich berechnungsfähig.

Source: Bundeszahnärztekammer, GOZ-Kommentar zu Nr. 9010

America publishes nothing of the kind. The American Dental Association discontinued its Survey of Dental Fees in 2023 and removed it from download after a change in law eliminating safe harbor disclosure, and states that it cannot quote fees for dental procedures and is forbidden by federal law to set or recommend them.

Two national fee documents, written independently under different legal systems, both pricing the surgeon's work and both excluding the implant. That is why no market has a single answer to "what does an implant cost" — and why comparing two headline numbers, in any direction, tells you almost nothing on its own.

One correction while we are here: a great deal of Turkish price content claims no clinic may charge below the national tariff. Article 40 of Law 3224 was headed determination of the minimum fee until 2011 and now reads determination of a guide tariff. Clinics price below it lawfully, and the market data shows they do.

The scope ladder, in one table

Five dated Turkish price pages, from İstanbul, Antalya and İzmir. Sorted by clinic they look like noise. Sorted by what each figure includes, they line up — and the same ladder exists in America.

What the price coversTürkiye, premium brand
Fixture alone€393 – €536
Fixture and abutment€625 – €804
Complete, including the crown€804 – €982

Same brand, same country, and the number more than doubles across the rungs while nothing about the implant changes. Before comparing any two implant prices — across a street or across an ocean — establish which rung each of them is standing on.

Seven questions that make any quote comparable

  1. Does this price include the fixture, the abutment and the crown? Ask for three lines, not one total.
  2. Which fixture brand and model, in writing? "Swiss implant" is not a brand, and the model decides whether a component can be sourced in fifteen years.
  3. What is the crown made of, and is it priced here? The crown is the largest single step between a screw price and a tooth price, in both countries.
  4. Is a graft or sinus lift likely, and what would it add? American published add-ons run $500 to $3,000 for a graft and $1,500 to $5,000 for a sinus lift. Both tariffs exclude the material from the fee.
  5. How many visits, over how long? Implants heal on a biological schedule. A plan that ignores it is describing a booking, not a treatment.
  6. What happens if it fails after I go home? Who pays, who does the work, and what the warranty covers — in writing, before you travel.
  7. What is deliberately not in this price? Ask it directly and keep the written answer.

What this page cannot tell you

It can tell you what the parts are, what two governments' fee documents say the work is worth, and what the same finished tooth costs in each market when the comparison is made properly.

It cannot tell you what your own mouth needs. Bone volume, gum condition, how many teeth, whether a graft is required — those decide both the treatment and the price, and none of them can be read from a table. What the comparison above gives you is the vocabulary to check that a quote is describing your case rather than a component.

Frequently asked questions

Is this page medically reviewed?
Yes. Dt. Bora Murat, a dentist in the oral and dental health department at Memorial Göztepe, has read it. The field is the right one, and that is the point: a real credential in the wrong field is decoration, and dentistry sits outside the scope of this site's three other reviewers. One competing interest is stated on his card — he appears in this site's dental ranking, and he has no access to the scoring formula or the data behind it. He had no part in choosing or reading the price sources here either, and no figure on this page comes from his employer.
Are the Turkish and American figures really comparable?
They are compared at matched scope, which is the whole point of the page. Both sides are the complete tooth — fixture, abutment and crown — and both come from dated, published sources that state what their figures include. Where the sources cover different things, the tables say so. What this page does not do is set a Turkish package that includes hotel and transfers against an American clinical fee, which is the usual way these comparisons get inflated.
Why are the clinics not named?
Because naming them would turn a price survey into a recommendation, and this site keeps those separate. The sources are dated, publicly published price pages and fee schedules, recorded internally with what each one states it includes. You get the shape of both markets rather than a shortlist, and no clinic paid for or influenced a word of it.
Does a lower price mean a worse implant?
Not by itself, and the question is usually asked about the wrong part. The fixture is a manufactured component: a Straumann placed in Istanbul is the same object as a Straumann placed in Chicago. What a price cannot tell you is who is placing it, how much of the planning is done before you arrive, and what happens if something fails after you fly home. Those are the real variables, and the questions at the end of this page are aimed at them.
Does this apply to All-on-4?
The gap is there, but the comparison is harder because All-on-4 is not a fixed unit. American published pricing runs $15,000 to $50,000 per arch. On the Turkish side the labels themselves disagree — one page headed All-on-4 describes eight implants and twenty-four crowns, which is two jaws rather than one. Before comparing two full-arch numbers you have to establish how many implants and how many jaws each covers.

Dt. Murat appears in this site’s dental ranking, which is a competing interest and is stated here rather than left to be discovered. It cannot move where he lands: he has no access to the scoring formula or the data behind it, the formula is published on /how-we-rank, and every place is computed from Google figures. His position is in the list itself rather than repeated here, because a place moves when a Google figure does and a number written into prose goes quietly false. He also had no part in choosing or reading the price sources behind this page, and no figure on it comes from his employer.
